Paramount Plus Is Here! Everything You Need to Know
Paramount’s new streaming service, Paramount Plus, is here! For $6.99 per month, you can stream Paramount-owned TV shows and movies on your favorite devices, at any time of the day or night. It’s available on iOS and Android smartphones, Apple TV, Chromecast, PlayStation 3 and 4, Roku, Xbox One and 360, and on the web from most major browsers in your home or mobile devices.
What is Paramount Plus?
At the end of 2018, it was announced that Paramount would be launching a new streaming service called Paramount Plus. The company has not revealed much information about the service yet, but here is what we know so far:
- It will be free for 30 days
- It will include movies and TV shows
- It will have live TV channels from around the world
- It will let you create your own personal profile with your favorite movies, TV shows, and channels
What devices support the service?
This service is currently available on Android and iOS. The service can also be watched on web browsers, Apple TV, Chromecast, and Amazon Fire TV. Paramount Plus offers a free trial for 7 days before a subscription fee of $5/month. Current programming includes shows such as Shameless, Jack Ryan, and The Borgias.
The service can be used on various different devices. If you’re using a smart TV, you can install Android TV or Firestick. If your computer has a web browser, it supports Google Chrome or Internet Explorer/Edge. Firestick users also have access to Amazon Prime Video and Hulu so it’s possible for them to access content from other providers as well. Additionally, the content will be available on mobile platforms like Apple TV, iOS, and Android phones via Paramount’s application.
Content can also be watched via media players like Chromecast (using either Android or iOS) and through Amazon Fire TV in select countries including the United States, Canada, Australia, and Germany although no word yet on Ireland’s availability. Unfortunately, at present, they do not support Smart TVs from LG & Sony.
How much does the service cost?
For $14.99 a month, you can access all of Paramount’s content on your phone, tablet, or laptop and even download it to watch offline. That also includes every show that airs on the network, as well as movies like Mission: Impossible- Fallout, The Cloverfield Paradox, and Annihilation. There are also two other tiers for more and less money if that’s what you’re looking for.
There are actually three different pricing tiers for you to choose from. At $14.99 a month, you’ll get access to every episode of every show that airs on NBCUniversal’s various networks. If you want even more shows and movies (like Game of Thrones, Star Trek: Discovery, and more), there’s a mid-tier plan at $29.99 per month, which unlocks even more content like E! channels, A&E networks, and live TV feeds from Bravo, E!, SyFy and USA.
When does the service begin?
This service starts on the first of November. Paramount’s newest initiative is making it easier for people to stream content from a variety of sources, with a library of TV shows, movies, and live TV. The app has been available for download since October 30th and can be found on the iTunes store or through Google Play.
The app allows for streaming via wifi or mobile data connection and also features Chromecast support. It’s free to download but after the trial period ends you’ll need either an HBO subscription ($14.99 per month) or a Starz subscription ($8.99 per month).
